Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how Idabyte IT Solutions and Services (“Idabyte”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data when you visit idabyte.co.uk or contact us. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
Idabyte is a UK-based software engineering consultancy run by Ibrahim Oguz. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
- Address: 20-22 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU, United Kingdom
- Email: contact@idabyte.co.uk
2. Personal data we collect
This website is a static information site — it does not run analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts, and it does not set cookies of its own. We may receive personal data in the following situations:
- When you contact us by email, phone or LinkedIn: your name, contact details and the contents of your message.
- Server access logs kept by our hosting provider: typically your IP address, browser user-agent and the timestamp of each request. These logs are used for security and abuse prevention and are retained for a limited period in line with our hosting provider’s defaults.
3. How we use your data
We use the personal data you provide to:
- Respond to your enquiry or follow up on a piece of work;
- Provide the consultancy services you have engaged us for;
- Keep records required for legal, accounting or contractual obligations;
- Operate, secure and maintain this website.
4. Lawful basis
We process your personal data on one or more of the following lawful bases under UK GDPR Article 6:
- Legitimate interests — responding to your enquiry, maintaining server security, and conducting our business as a consultancy.
- Performance of a contract — delivering services we have agreed with you.
- Legal obligation — complying with HMRC, Companies House and other UK regulatory requirements.
5. Cookies
This website does not set first-party cookies and does not embed third-party trackers. Web fonts are self-hosted, so no requests leave the site origin.
6. Third parties
We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share data only with:
- Our hosting provider, who processes server logs on our behalf;
- Professional advisers (accountants, legal advisers) where required;
- Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to do so.
7. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes set out above, or for the duration of any legal, accounting or contractual obligation. Email correspondence is typically retained for the length of the engagement plus six years for tax record-keeping.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Have inaccurate data corrected;
- Have your data erased where we have no continuing legal basis to retain it;
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Receive your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@idabyte.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
9. Product-specific privacy policies
Where Idabyte publishes products with their own data-handling characteristics, we maintain a separate privacy policy for each product:
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
11. Contact
