From prototype to a live care platform
The client is a UK health and social care SaaS platform: care-planning software that replaces paper records in care homes. Idabyte took its prototype in October 2021, made it production-grade on AWS and built out the product. Care homes have used it since 2024, and we support it today.

Care planning without the paper
The platform gives care homes one place to plan care, record it and show it. Carers write notes and hand over between shifts. Managers see alerts and dashboards, and pull the reports and evidence that CQC inspectors ask for. It also handles the workforce side: staff records, qualifications, absence, accidents and clocking in.
It's a single responsive web app, so the same product works on the phones and tablets used on the floor and on the PCs in the office.
- Care plans, notes and handovers
- Alerts and reminders
- Dashboards and reports, including evidence for CQC
- Workforce admin
- AI care notes that turn quick notes into clear, person-centred records
From prototype to production
In October 2021 the client had a working prototype that proved the idea. Before care homes could trust it with real care records, it had to be secure, safe to change and dependable. We kept the prototype's code and spent more than a year making it production-grade, while building out the product.
-
Security hardening
Role-based access for each care home, an audit trail of who viewed or changed care records, and encryption in transit and at rest. Staff sign in through ASP.NET Core Identity, and care records are stored in the AWS UK / European Cloud.
-
Automated tests and releases
A CI/CD pipeline builds, tests and releases every change the same way, so each new feature reaches care homes through the same tested route.
-
Monitoring, backups and alerts
The live service is monitored and logged, the database is backed up, and alerts reach us when something needs attention.
How it fits together
A .NET back end on Amazon EC2 serves a responsive Angular web app. Care records live in SQL Server on Amazon RDS, and the AI care notes use Amazon Bedrock. The service and its data are hosted in the AWS UK / European Cloud.

Collaborating with the founder and product team
The founder sets the product vision and feature priorities. We translate those requirements into technical specifications, scoping the architecture, writing production code and automated tests, and managing deployment pipelines.
-
The product team raises a need
A new feature, a change for a care home, or a problem to fix.
-
We scope it
We work out what has to change in the product, the code and the data.
-
We estimate it
The product team sees the estimate before any work starts.
-
We deliver it
Built, tested and released through the pipeline, then watched in the live service.
How the platform grew
-
We take on the prototype
The prototype proves the idea. We keep its code and start making it production-grade: security, automated releases and monitoring.
-
The first care home goes live
Care staff start recording real care on the platform.
-
AI care notes
We add AI care notes on Amazon Bedrock, turning quick notes into clear, person-centred records.
-
Today
Ongoing technical partnership
We scale the platform, monitor its performance and keep delivering new features as the business grows.
